Institute of Management Technology (IMT) will conduct an additional test for two-year post graduate diploma in management besides common admission test (CAT), group discussion or activity and personal interviews.
The institute from this year onwards, will conduct a pre-screening to judge the candidates? soft skills through a virtual interview. For this, IMT has tied up with US-based VMock to help talent short-listing and executive learning and development through the online mode.
??We have got almost 16,000 applications this year and with this screening, we can pre-interview all of them in one go. However, we still have to figure out the weightage that we will give this new criteria in the entire admission process which also includes Class 10, 12 and undergraduate scores,? said Bibek Banerjee, director, IMT, Ghaziabad.
Each candidate, under virtual screening, will be asked five questions in a span of 15 minutes for which he would be allowed 10 seconds of thinking time. After reviewing his answers, the candidate will have to submit any two answers which would then be evaluated by a panel comprising alumni, students, faculty and other stakeholders of the institute.
Moreover, the student will also have the option of choosing the campus he wants to join after getting selected. Besides Ghaziabad, IMT also has campuses in Nagpur and Hyderabad in India and an international campus in Dubai.
??This is the first application of the admission process but going ahead, this virtual platform will be extended for placements also so that the entire process is technology driven,? Banerjee added. He explained that for IMT Dubai, admissions will look at GMAT scores if CAT scores are not available and that the institute is ?looking at a gamut of applicant's pool? that goes beyond GMAT.
In fact, IMT Hyderabad will become operational in 2011-12 with a batch size of 120 for the two-year PGDM.
