The National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST, CSIR) and Kerala Chapter of the Indian Ceramic Society would be jointly organising an international conference on advanced functional materials here on December 9 and 10.
The conference would discuss the most recent developments at international levels in the area of materials and find ways to apply them to the traditional sector industries related to sanitaryware, ceramic tiles, porcelain insulators and tableware which do require modernization and diversification, a release said here today said.
The conference would be attended by more than 250 delegates from India and abroad such as UK, Netherlands, Germany, US, Australia, Finland, China and Korea.
The ceramic industry in this country would be actively participating in the event.
Many will set up exhibition stalls and posters. The NIIST (CSIR) and Indian Ceramic Society have come forward to organise such a novel platform for the first time in this part of the country, it added.
Kerala University Vice-Chancellor A Jayakrishnan and NIIST (CISR) Director Suresh Das would inaugurate the conference.
As many as 42 speakers, including 30 from abroad, were invited to deliver speeches.
