Even though the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that all affiliated schools can frame their own date sheets for the Class X summative assessment (SA-II) from this year, it has clarified that results of the exam will be announced on the same day in May.
This means that even though Class X exams are now school-based, with no interference from CBSE, all the students will get to know their results on the same day. SA-II will be held in the second half of March.
After the exams, all the schools have to send their results to the board without disclosing the marks to the students. This year?s Class X students are the first batch to have been assessed by the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme. As per this scheme of evaluation, students will be given grades and grade points in each subject, instead of marks.
The grades and grade points, along with the Cumulative Grade Point Average, will be announced by the CBSE on the same day in May. ?All the students who take the school-based exam as well as those who opt for the board will get their results on the same day,? a CBSE official said. Students from schools that are only upto Class X will have to write the Board exam.
All the students will get CCE certificates after the results are announced. Grades for both Class IX and Class X will be mentioned in the certificate, which will be a combined report card with gradation in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas.
The CCE scheme was implemented for Class IX students in 2009, and extended to Class X this year. Under the scheme, students are given grades instead of marks for four formative assessments (FA-I, FA-II, FA-III and FA-IV) and two summative assessments (SA-I and SA-II) held in an academic year. Scholastic as well as non-scholastic aspects will be taken into consideration for evaluating students.
