The Mahatma Gandhi University, for the first time this year, will fill thousands of seats for its postgraduate programmes, through its affiliated government, aided and self-financing colleges, by using a Centralised Allotment Process (CAP). Kerala University had implemented CAP for admissions to its postgraduate programmes last year.
The centralised allotment process will benefit students as they can apply for admission to different colleges through a single application form instead of sending separate applications to various colleges.
Applicants will have to submit the personal and academic data online along with choosing the courses and colleges. They will also have to submit manually-filled in application form (obtained from the centres prescribed in the prospectus) with all necessary supporting documents. Candidates should visit the website www.mguniversity.edu for online registration. They should click the link 'Admission to PG Degree Course 2010'.
A candidate must have his or her application number and security key to submit personal and academic data online. He or she will have to initially log on to the website using the ?application number' and ?security key'. Then the candidate will have to create and submit a ?password' that must be made up of numerals or alphabets or a combination of both.
On successful submission of the password, the candidate has to enter and submit the personal and academic data. A ?registration ID' will be provided to the candidate on completing the online registration of personal and academic data.
Any candidate, who wishes to register options, should have the ?application number', ?security key' and the ?password' which he or she has created, readily available with him or her.
The candidate can approach the facilitation centres for registering options, if necessary.
All options available to the candidate, based on the courses he or she is eligible for, can be registered through a single registration.
The first allotment will be held on August 16. A trial allotment will be held on August 13. Students can re-arrange/add/delete their options from August 14 to 16 (up to 10 a.m.).
The second allotment is on August 30. Classes will begin on September6.
Online registration of personal and academic data can be made up to August 7 by visiting the website www.mguniversity.edu . Online registration of college options can also be done during this period.
The application fee for general candidates is Rs.100, and for SC/ST candidates Rs.50. Candidates can remit the fee at Federal Bank branches in the State.
