West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) yesterday announced its recognition for students holding Cambridge IGCSE qualifications from University
of Cambridge International Examinations(CIE).
The regulation states that passes in five Cambridge IGCSE subjects, including, English, is equivalent to the Madhyamik (Secondary Examination) Of the West Bengal Board
of Secondary Education.
In India, more than 230 schools are registered with CIE and recognition of Cambridge qualifications is extending across the country. Since January, state Education Boards
in West Bengal, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab have all announced their recognition of Cambridge qualifications. CIE qualifications are accepted by universities across the
world.
They are recognised as a benchmark of academic success at Grade ten and Plust two level. Cambridge International A level students in India are on par with UK students
for getting entry to UK universities.
