As part of its academic programmes, the English and Foreign Languages (EFL) University here would conduct AIELTA English proficiency test on March 7 to certify candidates' proficiency in English, a senior official said today.
The All India English Language Testing Authority (AIELTA) which started functioning at the EFL, would conduct its first English proficiency test at various centres across the country, EFL University Vice-Chancellor Prof Abhai Maurya told reporters here.
"All those who are sixteen years old and above who take this test will benefit academically as this will help everyone who wishes to take admissions not only in various courses of EFL University but also in other institutions/universities," he said.
The tests being conducted for the first time in India by an Indian institute are aimed at standardising levels of proficiency in English in the country and also aims to reach out to remote areas in the country, Prof Abhai Maurya explained.
Keeping in view the needs of the students at Plus Two level (intermediate) and the standard of their knowledge, the University has appointed a group of experts from various fields to prepare materials and design the test, he said adding that the test at the levels of graduation and PG will be conducted in subsequent stages.
