Dr. Ramachandran Thekkedath of Palakkad Thekkedath Mana has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Cochin University of Science and Technology. The appointment order was signed by Governor R S Gavai today. Dr. Ramachandran belongs to Nhangattiri of Pattambi, Palakkad. At present he is at Thrombodyne Inc, Salt Lake City, Utah , US.
Son of the late Sankara Narayanan Namboodiri and Unikkali Antharjanam of Nhangattiri Kannannur Thekkedath Mana, the 52 year old Ramachandran, had his primary schooling at Nhangattiri UP School and then at Pattambi Perumudiyur Oriental High School. He did his BSc at St Thomas College, Thrissur in Physics and then proceeded to Cusat for MSc. He did his PhD in Physics (Laser Technology) from Cochin University. Worked about ten years, from 1987 to 1997 at Sree Chitra Institute,Trivandrum as scientist. Presently he is involved in biomedical research and development. Dr. Usha is his wife. She is a medical doctor, presently doing medical research. They have two sons , Rajath and Sarath who are students.
Dr Ramachandran is the fourth son of his parents after Savithry, Sathi and Ravi . Mr. Narayanan of BARC, Bombay is his younger brother, followed by Vasanthy and Sajitha.
Dr. Ramachandran has not decided still when to join Cusat as he has to relieve from his present Company and also has to arrange for the travel, he told Mathrubhumi Education over phone from United States.
