The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) , one of the premier institutions for distance education, is expected to cross students strength of one lakh during the year 2009-2010
it was planning to offer new courses in health sciences, basic and life sciences, international relations, social work, agriculture and theatre arts during the year 2010-2011. The university is also planing to launch short-term courses to school dropouts, unemployed youth and graduates.
He said industries would be invited for the campus recruitment.
Efforts would be made to broadcast study material all over the state through Gyan Vani FM Educational channel.
KSOU will introduce semester system for Post-Graduate courses from 2010-2011. Besides, choice based credit system would also be introduced in the same period, he added.
Referring to the examination system of KSOU, he said the duration of the examinations has been reduced from 45 to 12 days. This would also reduce expenditure. The number of examinations has been increased to 98.
