A newly established private law school today launched the Master of Laws
(LLM) programme and research agenda on various subjects including law
and policy.
The Master of Laws programmes brochure was formally launched by
Corporate Affairs Minister for State (Independent charge) Salman Khurshid
at a symposium organised by the Haryana-based Jindal Global Law
School (JGLS), which is already running three- and five-year LLB courses.
To mark the occasion, a lecture was organised by the school on 'Suing
Government: Remedies for Official Misconduct in the USA' which was
delivered by Peter H Schuck, a professor of Yale Law School in the USA.
Noted jurist and academician Upendra Baxi, Congress leader and
Chancellor of Jindal Global University Naveen Jindal, and Vice-Chancellor
C Rajkumar were also present to deliver the inaugural lecture.
"We have established ten research centres in cutting-edge areas of law
and policy with a view to creating knowledge and promoting excellence in
research," a JGLS official said adding that it has signed MoUs with some
of the major Indian law firms.
JGLS under the Jindal Global University, a private university established
by the state legislature at Sonepat in Haryana, has entered into
collaborations with several offshore universities for exchange of students,
faculties and framing of curriculum.
