Applications have been invited for admission to the MBBS course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, for 2010.
Applicant must have passed the XII Standard/Pre- Professional/Pre Medical examination or equivalent examination of a Statutory Indian University/Board or any other recognized Board/University, as a regular student, in all the subjects opted for, in 1st attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects securing not less than 60% aggregate marks in the 3 Science subjects taken together, not less than 50% marks in each of the Science subjects and not less than 50% marks in English. Applicant should also have passed an examination in Mathematics at least of the Matriculation standard.
A B.Sc Graduate with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany or Zoology) also must have passed XII Standard/Pre Professional (Med) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and obtained marks as stated above. Those who are to appear in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent) up to 1st May 2010, can also appear for the test provisionally.
Those who have passed in Domestic Science, Domestic Arithmetic, Lower Mathematics separately or in combination with other subjects like General Science, Social studies in High School/Higher Secondary (Multi Purpose) or equivalent examination, those who have passed only Pre-University/Pre-Degree (one year course) or Pre-Professional in Agriculture/ Veterinary/ Dental Examination and those who have passed the Pre-Professional or equivalent qualifying examination as private candidates are not eligible to apply. Applicant must have attained the age of 17 years but must not have attained the age of 22 years on 31st December 2010 (Applicant must not have been born earlier than 1st January 1989 and not later than 31st December 1993, if the academic qualification of the candidate is 10+2 or equivalent).
Those who has passed B.Sc. examination or those who will be appearing in final B.Sc. examination and seeking admission must not have attained the age of 24 years on 31st December 2010 (Must have been born not earlier than 1st January 1987). Applicant should be unmarried.
The written examination will be of 2 hours duration having one paper comprising of 200 objective type of questions from Biology (Zoology and Botany) (50 marks), Chemistry (50 marks), Physics (50 marks), Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning (25 marks) and English Language & Comprehension (25 marks). Each correct answer will fetch one mark while for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.
Applicants have to report at the Examination centre at 9.15 am. A total of 130 candidates, including a maximum of 25 girls, will be selected. All the 105 boys and 25 girls admitted to AFMC Pune, will have compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services on Graduation. The type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination.
Prospectus and application forms can be purchased on payment of Rs. 250/- in cash till stocks last or 29th January 2010.
Applicant while purchasing Prospectus must ensure that they have received one copy of the Application Form also. Prospectus and Application form can also be obtained by Post till 4 pm on 19th January 2010, from ?Officer-in-Charge (Admission Cell), Armed Forces Medical College, Sholapur Road, Pune-411040?, by sending a Bank Draft, on any Nationalized Bank, taken in favour of ?Commandant, AFMC, Pune?, payable at Pune, for Rs. 250/- per copy, with Name & Address of applicant written on the back of the Demand Draft along with (i) full Postal address of the applicant on two separate slips of paper of size 9 cms x 5 cms (ii) An application giving particulars and address of applicant and (iii) self addressed envelope of 11? X 13? size with postage stamp worth Rs. 55/- affixed. Each request should be accompanied by a separate Demand Draft. Combined DD for more than one application will not be accepted.
Application form and Prospectus can also be downloaded from www.afmc.nic.in up to 29th January 2010 in which case, the forms, printed on A4 size glossy paper, duly completed in all respect has to be submitted with a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs 250/- drawn in favour of ?Commandant AFMC, Pune?, on any Nationalized Bank payable at Pune with name & address of applicant written on the back of the Demand Draft.Completed forms must reach the ?Officer-in-Charge (Admissions Cell), Armed Forces Medical College, Post Office Wanawadi, Pune - 411 040 latest by 4 pm on 5th February 2010.
