Registrations start on Tuesday for the series of guidance-cum-orientation programmes that is being organised by The Hindu-EducationPlus at six centres in Kerala starting May 27 for the benefit of those seeking admission to courses in various professional streams through the State government's counselling process after taking the Common Entrance Test, and also in certain other subjects of study.
This off-the-page initiative by Kerala's largest-selling English language newspaper is into its seventh year. ?Courses & Choices ? Sessions on the Professional Streams and More,? is to be conducted in Kozhikode on May 27; in Kochi on May 29; and in Thiruvananthapuram on May 30. In Kozhikode, the event will be at Hotel Calicut Tower, Mavoor Road; in Kochi, at A.J. Hall, Kaloor; and in Thiruvananthapuram, at Tagore Centenary Theatre.
The programmes at these places will have forenoon and afternoon sessions. The forenoon session will focus on the dos and don'ts and the strategies relating to the online seat allotment process conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and provide an overview of the key courses. The afternoon sessions at these centres will focus on courses in areas such as animation and gaming, aviation, logistics, hospitality, finance and chartered accountancy. Students who register themselves for the programmes at these three centres on payment of a fee of Rs.75 can choose to attend either one or both the sessions.
The forenoon's programmes at the three other centres ? Thiruvalla on June 5, Kannur on June 9 and Manjeri on June 10 ? will be similar to the morning sessions planned at the above centres, focussing on the courses in the professional streams. The registration fee for these events is Rs.50.
In Thiruvalla, the programme will be held at Mar Thoma Residential School, Muthoor; in Kannur, at Hotel Royal Omars; and in Manjeri, at Woodbine Restaurant.
A handbook with detailed information on courses will be provided to each participant. Entry will be on a first come, first served basis.

Students can also provisionally register themselves for the events at all the places by sending a request by e-mail to the respective centres of The Hindu, in which case they are expected to complete the registration formalities at the venue before the start of the programme.
