MA in translation studies in IGNOU
Realising the need to enhance the effectiveness of teaching-learning process via translation, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) today launched a masters level programme here.
At the launch of MA in translation studies (face-to-face), Vice-Chancellor Prof V N R Pillai said translation was important in the fast changing globalised world in both academic and professional contexts.
The pionneering work done by the National Knowledge Commission in the field of translation is laudable,'' he said and also highlighted the findings and recommendations put forth by the Commission.
The guest of honour, IGNOU PVC Prof O P Mishra said knowledge of translation had become all the more relevant now in terms of reaching out to the maximum learners and churning out professionals for development of the country.
Dr Rajendra Prasad Pandey from IGNOU's School of Translation Studies and Training (SOTST) too made a point of the university commencing face-to-face teaching and said this mode of teaching would help in increasing the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process.
