With students complaining of technical problems while submitting their application forms for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) online, the CBSE has extended the date for submission to February 10.
The submission date earlier was December 31, both for online applicants and those sending the form via post. The online submission had to be followed up with the students sending their signatures and photographs through registered or speed post to the AIPMT office.
Many online applicants, however, could not check the status of their forms on the website and had approached the CBSE, which conducts the exam.
?After updation of data of the AIPMT application forms received by the Board on website, it has come to the notice that some applications sent to the Board have not reached it. Most of these applications have been submitted on-line,? CBSE wrote on its website. The CBSE said it is looking into the problem.
?We have given them a 15 days? time to reply. We will take action against those who fail to reply within the stipulated time.? The notices have instructed the institutions to directly correspond with the AICTE headquarters or respective regional offices.
Regional Director of AICTE (west region) Prabhat Kumar Sahoo said, ?AICTE will not compromise with the quality of technical education. The institutes will have to reply to the notice or face stringent action. We have even recommended criminal action against such institutes as per AICTE rule and dupe students.?
Dr Arun Kumar, Principal of VIVA College of Technology, Virar said, ?We have heard about this issue from some of the institutes, but have not yet received any notice. If we get the notice, we will contact the AICTE.?
Anagha Joshi of Indira Group of Institutes in Pune said, ?I have not seen any such notice. I will have to check it with our chairperson. We would verify it first and then think about our next course of action.?
While some of the colleges said they had not received the show cause notice yet, some of them maintained that the notice was unclear and they would first clarify it with AICTE regional office.
PRO of Thane-based Parsvanath College Sameer Nandiwadekar said, ? We have got the notice, but we are not too clear with it. So we want to first clarify it with the AICTE. The land on which we are running the institute is on lease, so AICTE must have sent us the show cause notice. We already have some cases pending (pertaining to the issue) in court.?
AICTE is still inspecting institutes across the country. AICTE officials said more such institutes would get show cause notices.
