Leading healthcare provider Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (MIOT) Hospitals today launched MIOT Academy of Allied Health Sciences and would offer six under graduate para professional courses to churn out skillful talents to help the doctors in treating patients.
The BSc Degree Courses, christened as Allied Health Sciences, was launched by The Hindu Editor-in-Chief N Ram in the presence of MIOT Hospitals Founder and Managing Director, Dr P V A Mohandas and Chairperson, Dr Mallika Mohandas.
Affiliated to the Dr MGR University, the MIOT Academy would offer three-year BSc courses in Accident and Emergency Care Technology, Cardiac Pulmonary Care Technology, Critical Care Technology, Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology, Physician Assistant and Radiology Imaging Technology.
Talking to reporters after the launch function, Dr Mohandas and MIOT Academy Correspondent, Prof Dr Sarasa Bharati said the main aim of these courses was to provide skill-based graduate training programme that would significantly remove the unemployment rate in the country.
There was an urgent need for a new breed of para professionals which could receive specific training to assist doctors in handling various highly sophisticated instrumentation for an early, prompt and specific diagnosis of diseases.
