With the Indian fashion industry witnessing huge growth over the last few years, the Pearl Academy of Fashion, a premier institute in fashion studies, has announced Masters programmes in various streams aimed at developing students into thoughtful leaders having strategic capabilities.
Announcing the launch of the Masters programmes which include MA in Design (Fashion and Textiles), MA Fashion Marketing, MA Fashion Merchandising and MA in Fashion Retail, the group Director of the Academy, T K G Nair said, ''The fashion industry and markets offer one of the most dynamic and scintillating work arenas for professionals today. The global working environment and technological environment are making it more and more complex with passing times. In such a situation, there is a growing need for professionals with valuable insights and perspectives who can design, build, measure and manage organisations and brands competently. The need is not just to manage challenges but anticipate them in advance and lead the industry of tomorrow.'' Top faculty from Pearl, elsewhere in India as well as from overseas, will nurture students to a successful master?s award.
Throughout the programme, the learning environment and interaction with experts will encourage students to address contemporary issues, theories and paradigms and develop a global viewpoint.
Lending strength to the curriculum will be the presence of internationally acclaimed faculty members, the opportunity for the students to work on projects from the industry and a research intensive course curriculum designed to help them to provide leadership to respective organisations working in the global environment.
Talking to UNI, Nair said about 15 internationally acclaimed academicians from industry and academics from all round the globe have expressed keen interest to participate in the delivery of MA programmes at the academy.
Further, all the programmes have projects that students will do with the industry. The industry integration will happen at many points during the programme. Deep integration with industry for live experience of application and professional practice will give an edge to these students to manage complexity, challenge, risk and competition in the contextual environment of fashion businesses.
In addition, all programmes involve research so that the students will get the skill to support his work and develop a vision in their expertise and think in line with students of any other course in other parts of the world.
Each of the Masters programmes is spread over three semesters, each semester accounting for 60 credits totalling to 180 credits for the Master?s award in a duration of one and a half year.
For MA Fashion Marketing, MA Fashion Merchandising and MA Fashion Retail, aspirants from non fashion backgrounds will undergo for a bridge programme in order to understand the business of fashion.
The admission process for the programmes will begin in April while the programmes begin in July 2010. While the intake in MA Design(Fashion and Textiles) will be 10 to 15 students, the intake in the other three courses will be 25 each.
