CLAT 2027 UG

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2027) - UG

Law Entrance ♙ UG Conducted by Consortium of National Law Universities

Overview

CLAT UG is a highly competitive, pen-and-paper-based aptitude test administered annually by the Consortium of National Law Universities. It evaluates candidates' comprehension and reasoning skills essential for a rigorous legal education rather than testing prior legal knowledge.

Recent structural changes have streamlined the test to 120 multiple-choice questions over a two-hour duration. The examination emphasizes reading comprehension, critical thinking, and applied logic, moving away from rote memorization. The test is strictly conducted in the English medium and is divided into five sections: English Language, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

The exam acts as the primary gateway to India's premier NLUs (excluding NLU Delhi, which conducts its own AILET exam). An objective and centralized counselling process allocates seats across participating institutions based on merit, NLU preferences, and category reservations.
