The National Testing Agency has declared the scores of the Joint CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 examination on 29 August 2026, bringing an important result update for candidates seeking research fellowships, Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD-related eligibility through the examination.
According to NTA's official press release, the examination was conducted on 17 and 18 July 2026 in computer-based test mode across 224 cities for five subjects. A total of 1,87,739 candidates registered, while 1,50,057 candidates appeared for the examination.
How to check CSIR-UGC NET June 2026 scores
Candidates should visit the official Joint CSIR-UGC NET portal and use the result or scorecard facility available there.
NTA states that candidates can log in to the website and view, download and print their scorecard. Students should preserve both an electronic copy and a printed copy for future admission, fellowship or recruitment requirements.
The five examination areas covered were Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences.
Life Sciences accounted for the largest number of registrations, with 83,546 candidates registered and 67,650 appearing. The overall examination recorded 90,380 female candidates and 59,675 male candidates appearing, along with two candidates recorded under the third-gender category.
Final answer keys also released
NTA separately released the final answer keys for all five subjects on 29 August. Candidates can access the final answer key pertaining to their subject by logging into the registration portal using their credentials and selecting the option provided for viewing the final answer key.
The result has been prepared after the provisional answer-key challenge process. NTA said challenges submitted against the provisional keys were examined by subject experts and the results were processed using the answer keys finalised after that review.
Scorecard does not replace eligibility verification
Candidates should note an important distinction: declaration of the NTA score does not by itself complete every subsequent eligibility formality.
NTA has specifically stated that eligibility conditions, self-declarations and supporting documents of eligible candidates will be checked by the concerned authorities according to the Joint CSIR-UGC NET information bulletin and prescribed process.
Candidates should therefore avoid assuming that obtaining a particular score automatically guarantees a fellowship, Assistant Professor appointment or PhD admission.
Universities, research organisations and the relevant authorities may require additional verification and must apply the applicable qualification and category rules.

Candidates should first download the official scorecard and verify their personal particulars and scores. They may then follow subsequent announcements regarding qualification status and any procedure applicable to JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility or PhD admission.
