Veterinary science is vital to the study and protection of animal production practices, herd health and monitoring the spread of disease. Diagnosis of disease, medical administration, timely vaccination, advising on the health and diet of animals, conducting scientific breeding etc. are the activities of the veterinarian. The Vet may also involve in animal research in order to control spread of diseases transmitted through animals.

Accounting is the discipline of planning, budgeting, analyzing, verifying and interpreting of financial transaction. One who practices accountancy is called an Accountant. Skilled accountants exhibit good proficiency in maths and a sound grasp of facts and figures, inauguration, good judgment and analysis. Irrespective of the business situation the demand for financial information is increasing with the emergence of global economy.
Courses & Eligibility

1. B V Sc & AH (Bachelors in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry)
Eligibility: 10 + 2 with PCB
Duration: 5 Years + 6 Months compulsory Practical Internship

Selection: Admission to B V Sc is based on the entrance exam conducted by the technical education board of each state. Also an all India level entrance examination is conducted by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). The successful candidates fill up 15% of the total seats in State Agricultural Universities and Central Agricultural University and 100% of seats in National Diary Research Institute(NDRI), Karnal (Haryana). Graduates in Veterinary science can also appear for Postgraduate course in Biotechnology.

2. M V Sc (Masters in Veterinary Science)
Eligibility: B V Sc
Duration: 2 Years

Selection: Admission to M V Sc is through an All India competitive examination. The specialisations in M V Sc include Poultry Science, Dairy Production, Dairy Technology, Dairy Science, Animal Nutrition, Pathology, Parasitology, Surgery, Animal Reproduction, Genetics, Feed & Fodder Technology.

3. B. Tech Dairy Technology and Dairy Engineering
Eligibility: 10+2/equivalent examination with 60% in Physics, Chemistry & Maths.

Job Opportunities

The vets can enter State and Central government departments related to Animal Husbandry. They can also find employment in veterinary hospitals and clinics, veterinary colleges, dairy farms, poultry farms, zoological gardens, wildlife parks, aviaries, livestock management etc. Several veterinary scientists are engaged in research and academics. Veterinarians work in pharmaceutical firms and in biomedical research, in the research and development of drugs, chemicals and bio products particularly antibiotics and vaccines both for human and animal use. The Army and the Border Security Forces also employ veterinarians for the care and treatment of their mounted regiments which have horses, mules, camels and dogs.
